Dr. Brian Mooney is a teacher-educator, scholar, poet, and author from New Jersey. He earned his doctorate in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Teaching and Research

Dr. Mooney is an experienced teacher who taught high school English for nearly 10 years. In recent years he’s been teaching at both Teachers College, Columbia University and Montclair State University. Dr. Mooney teaches courses on language, literacy, culture, and urban education.

His research interests include hip hop & spoken word pedagogy, youth participatory action research, and digital and media literacies.
